Kody S. Garza was fortunate to have the opportunity to help those in need early in his career, and those experiences continue to be a source of inspiration. After graduating from college, Kody volunteered at a local public interest organization, which helped tenants who were facing imminent homelessness and who lacked the resources to obtain traditional legal representation. What started as a volunteer opportunity to learn a bit about this portion of the law before attending law school turned into more than a year of life-changing experiences that kindled Kody’s passion for public interest work. Kody maintained that passion for public interest throughout law school, which included interning at another public interest organization as well as taking a leadership role in a public interest law society. Since graduating from law school, Kody has been able to use his position as an attorney and litigator to be more hands-on while fighting for his clients. Suffice it to say that Kody is not afraid of a challenge.
A native Austinite, Kody grew up in North Austin and attended the University of Texas at Austin for his undergraduate degree. Looking to broaden his horizons, Kody left the great state of Texas to attend law school in the frigid land of Wisconsin. Kody attended Marquette University Law School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which has a long-standing and proud Jesuit tradition of promoting justice. When Kody moved to Wisconsin, he essentially had just the clothes on his back, but he was able to leverage his knowledge and relationships into a successful litigation career. Kody has considerable experience helping those in need in a variety of fields such as personal injury, housing, contract, family, and real estate. By taking on wide-ranging cases, both simple and complex, Kody was able to develop a practice that caters to clients’ individual needs while maximizing results. These experiences would ultimately lead to developing the skills necessary to help clients back home in Texas.
Taken all together, there is very little that surprises Kody. His experiences working with so many different people in varying fields and locations have given him exciting opportunities to utilize his passion for helping others in creative and effective ways. That begins with taking care of our clients through clear communication and respect. Kody has seen first-hand how powerful it can be to give every person a voice. That is what Kody strives for with each client to ensure they are being heard and justice is served accordingly.
In his free time, Kody can be found making time for friends and family, attending concerts and Longhorn sports events, cooking, baking, and spending quality time with his dog, Raziel.
